Hartley County VINELink Changed
Texas ended its legacy county VINE service on September 1, 2025. The current service is Texas IVSS-Counties. The Attorney General says prior registrations transferred and returning users may need to update a password. The portal supports custody and court-event notices by text, telephone, or email. English and Spanish access and contact preferences are available.
This change matters because old instructions still appear online. Directions that send a Hartley County user to VINELink or require a four-digit telephone PIN describe the former system. Current state material reviewed for Hartley County does not document that PIN process. Use the live portal prompts instead. IVSS-Counties support is available at 866-268-8959 around the clock.
Search Hartley County Custody Events
Open the IVSS-Counties portal. Public custody or case information can be searched without first opening an account. The live form controls which identifiers it accepts, so follow its labels and do not guess at missing fields. Confirm that the responsible county is offered. Hartley arrests are housed in the jointly operated jail in Dalhart, which can make a search by county name less obvious than expected.
- Select the public search and review the county choices.
- Confirm whether Dallam or Hartley coverage includes the joint jail.
- Enter the identifying details requested by the current form.
- Compare possible matches and open the correct record.
- Read the exact custody or event wording and note the time checked.
- Confirm a claimed release with the Dallam-Hartley County Jail at 806-244-2541.
A common name is not enough. Retain the non-sensitive matching details used to distinguish the record. If no local record appears, the result may reflect nonparticipation, a data lag, a spelling mismatch, or the wrong custody system. It does not by itself prove that the person was never booked or has been released.
What Hartley IVSS Results Mean
Current state guidance establishes the service categories, but it does not publish a fixed Hartley County result-card inventory or a retention period for released records. Preserve the labels the portal actually displays. Do not translate “transfer,” “release,” and “discharge” into the same event.
| Portal information | How to use it |
|---|---|
| County or participating agency | Confirms which local system supplied the event. |
| Custody or case event | Read the exact status and its effective date when shown. |
| Notification choices | Shows which text, call, or email events can be followed. |
| Language and contact preferences | Controls how permitted notices are delivered. |
| Record not found | Requires a jail, court, or records-request fallback. |
A county release means the jail confinement ended. It may still be followed by bond terms, probation, another agency's custody, or a court date. A transfer is only a change of custodian. The Hartley County released-inmate search and record path explains how jail and court records can be paired when the precise outcome matters.
Register Hartley Release Notifications
Once the correct case or custody record is found, use the current portal controls to follow available events. Registration is useful for notice, but the agency record remains the source for confirmation.
- Choose the sign-in, account, follow, or subscribe option shown on the matching record.
- Select the available text, telephone, or email method.
- Set language, contact preferences, and any offered blackout times.
- Complete the verification required by the live portal.
- Keep contact details current and verify each important alert with the custodian.
Legacy VINE called back when a four-digit PIN was not entered. That is historical information, not a current IVSS-Counties instruction. No current PIN requirement should be inferred. Alerts also are not a promise of personal safety, a final court outcome, or freedom from another hold.
Hartley Prison Release Alerts
Dalhart Unit is a TDCJ state prison, not the county jail. A person held there belongs in the separate TDCJ IVSS portal. TDCJ Victim Services administers that notification route under its registration and eligibility rules. Prison events can include parole-related steps, release, discharge, or a unit transfer. The TDCJ offender detail remains the better source for location, offense, and projected or scheduled dates.
Search the TDCJ Online Inmate Search with accurate identifying data and open the linked detail. If the person is absent, contact TDCJ by email or telephone or make a public-information request. Online absence is not proof that a fully discharged person had no TDCJ history. A favorable parole vote or projected date also does not prove physical departure because release-plan review and other processing can remain open.
The official TDCJ IVSS screen shows the distinct prison-notification entry point.
Hartley VINELink Search Limits
Neither Texas IVSS portal covers every custody system. Federal Bureau of Prisons and ICE matters require their own locators and agency records. IVSS also cannot establish whether a court dismissed a charge, whether a person remains under supervision, or whether another warrant caused an immediate transfer.
- Release
- Departure from the current jail or prison under lawful authority.
- Transfer
- Movement from one custodian to another, not community release.
- Discharge
- The end of a sentence or supervision obligation shown by the responsible agency.
- Notification
- An automated event message that should be checked against the source record.
For a joint-jail event, call the Dallam-Hartley County Jail and check the Hartley court case. For a prison event, use TDCJ records and IVSS. For federal or immigration custody, use the responsible federal service. This custodian-first method prevents a county notification from being mistaken for a state or federal discharge.
Note: Save the visible status, source, and time checked so a later change can be explained rather than silently overwritten.
Resolve Missing Hartley IVSS Records
A missing county result calls for a fallback, not a conclusion. Check spelling and confirm that the county selector includes the arresting agency. Hartley County has no stand-alone jail. Its arrestees are generally housed in the joint jail in Dalhart, so a search only for “Hartley County Jail” may miss the custodian. Call the jail and ask whether it holds a booking and release entry. Request the booking number, custody status, release date and time, disposition, authority, and receiving agency if transferred.
Next check the Hartley County and District Court case. A bond order, dismissal, judgment, or sentence can explain why custody ended. Court data does not prove the exact moment of physical departure, so pair it with the jail entry. If the portal and jail disagree, save both timestamps and ask the jail to resolve the custody fact.
For a person moved into TDCJ, change systems. A county alert may show transfer while the prison search shows current custody. Parole or mandatory supervision ends prison confinement but not the sentence. Final discharge is a different event. Federal and immigration paths are separate too. A county jail release may be followed at once by USMS or ICE custody. Use the responsible federal locator rather than stretching a county notice beyond what it reports.

Preserve Hartley Alert Evidence
Save the agency, exact event phrase, event date, and time checked. If a notice arrives by text, email, or telephone, retain it until the custodian confirms what occurred. Hartley court records, the joint jail, and TDCJ can each describe a different part of one case. When two official sources differ, do not force their words to match. Contact the physical custodian first, then the receiving agency or court. A county transfer may appear beside TDCJ custody, and a court dismissal may coexist with another hold.
Community emergency alerts and the Texas sex-offender registry are separate systems. Neither replaces IVSS or a jail release record. Use the registry only for public Chapter 62 registration information. Use each service for the event its agency says it reports, and keep a dated record of the search.
Note: A dated copy of the alert and the confirming agency response makes later changes easier to explain without overstating either record.
The exact source and check time are essential when an automated custody status changes after the first notice.
